Its collections \nin these areas support research by state agency employees, scholars, \ngenealogists, librarians, students, Indiana residents who are blind or \nhave physical disabilities, and the general public.  The Indiana \nHistorical Bureau provides public and digital history publications, \nprograms, and educational opportunities that promote a more thorough and\n diverse understanding of Indiana history and the process of creating \nhistory. They have operated the State Historical Marker Program since \n1946 and the Indiana Legislative Oral History Initiative since 2017, \namong other public programs. The Library Development Office and \nProfessional Development Office work to improve and support the \nlibraries of Indiana through assistance, training, and supervising the \ndistribution of state and federal funds.The Evergreen Indiana Open-Source ILS InitiativeEvergreen \nIndiana is a growing consortium of more than 100 public, school and \ninstitutional libraries located throughout Indiana that use the \nEvergreen ILS. Patrons of member libraries can use their Evergreen \nIndiana library card to view the catalogs and borrow materials from the \nother member libraries. For a full list of participating libraries, \nplease visit the Member Libraries page.The\n Evergreen Indiana project is being funded by the Indiana State Library \nthrough Library Services and Technology Act [LSTA] grants and \nparticipant membership fees. The services provided by the State Library \ninclude purchasing and maintaining the central servers, personnel costs \nin operating the system, training, software development, data \nconversion, and other related expenses.The Evergreen Indiana \nproject is being funded by a combination of Library Services and \nTechnology Act [LSTA] grants and participant membership fees. Requests \nfor membership are approved by the Executive Committee at its regularly \nscheduled meetings. Libraries interested in joining the consortium must \nhave Board of Trustees approval and submit a completed Membership \nApplication Packet.
