<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN><SPAN>This dataset was developed to provide accurate street centerlines for Indiana, as part of Indiana's annual GIS Data harvest Data Sharing Initiative (IDSI) of the Indiana Geographic Information Office (IGIO). This dataset will be updated on an annual basis to include any road centerline changes during the annual Data Harvest. Updating the data will maintain the same item ID and REST URL to minimize disruption to end users. Current data is from the 2025 data harvest.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P><SPAN>This data layer is an Esri file geodatabase polyline feature class that contains street centerlines maintained by local government agencies in Indiana. It was released by the Indiana Geographic Information Office (IGIO) on December 31, 2024. The IGIO compiled the data as part of the Indiana Data Harvest program between the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC) and Indiana local governments to provide the most accurate framework data for the citizens of Indiana. </SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>

Each county's data was assessed for required attribute information and the fields matched to the statewide data schema. In certain cases, multiple fields were combined into a single field; and in many cases, single fields were split into multiple fields. Some assumptions were made as to the content of the fields provided in the county data unless a data dictionary or field mapping was provided.

The county data was loaded into the statewide data schema using the field matching established in the previous step. In most cases, the street address information needed to be split up into multiple fields. Automated tools were created to automate this as much as possible. The statewide schema for street centerlines includes the following street address fields: Left TO Address, Right TO Address, Left FROM Address, Right FROM Address, Parity Left, Parity Right, Full Street Name, Street Name Pre Modifier, Street Name Pre Directional, Street Name Pre Type, Street Name Pre Type Separator, Street Name, Street Name Post Type, Street Name Post Directional, Street Name Post Modifier, ESN Left, ESN Right, MSAG Community Name Left, MSAG Community Name Right, Incorporated , Municipality Left, Incorporated Municipality Right, Unincorporated Community Left, Unincorporated Community Right, Postal Code Left, Postal Code Right, Postal Community Name Left, Postal Community Name Right, State Left, State Right, Road Class, County Left, County Right, One-Way, Speed Limit, Local Identifier, Road Centerline NENA Globally Unique ID.
Of the above fields, the Parity Left, Parity Right, Street Name Pre Directional, Pre Type, Pre Type Separator, Post Type, Post Directional, Road Class, and One-Way fields use domains. These values were checked against the domain values specified in the NENA NG911 standard. In cases where the value was not clear, other information was used to determine the correct value. These other data sources include the parcel address information and the address point data provided by the county. Additional sources include ArcGIS Online's base maps and Google Maps.
Fields were added to provide the source information. These include SOURCE_FEATUREID (the object id or feature id of the source data), SOURCE_ORIGINATOR (the name of the county who provided the data), and LOADDATE (the date of the county's data extract), and LOCAL_ID (the local identifier if provided and specified by the county).

Additional information was added based on the street name if it has an abbreviation similar to County Road, State Road, or Interstate (like CR, CO RD, SR, I-, etc.). Otherwise, if the county doesn't give this information in the St_Name field but it is a number, there's no post type and they provide a pre and post direction, it's typically inferred that it is a County Road and if it doesn't have the pre/post direction it's generally categorized as a State Road.

Various GEO* fields were added, where all text field values were uppercased and extra spaces were removed, blanks were replaced with NULL values, Additional fields were added and populated. GEOFULLADDRESS represents the full street name using the cleaned up values. Additional fields such as ESRI_ZIPL, ESRI_ZIPR, ESRI_PONAMEL, and ESRI_PONAMER were added using FME, which was also used to validate and clean up various other attributes.
