Description:

The Deer Reduction Zone Boundaries outlines the areas within Indiana that are designated as Deer Reduction Zones during the 2017-2018 deer hunting season. Features in the Deer Reduction Zone Boundaries were created by digitizing along roads in road layers provided by Indiana Department of Transportation. The data are a shapefile with polyline features.

The Indiana Deer Reduction Zones are areas of high human densities and high human-deer conflicts in which hunters may harvest deer in addition to the statewide bag limits. The Deer Reduction Zone season is September 15, 2017 through January 31, 2018, The bag limit for the Deer Reduction Zone is 10 deer, of which only one can be antlered. Individuals hunting in a designated Deer Reduction Zone who are attempting to satisfy the Deer Reduction Zone bag limit must harvest an anterless deer before harvesting and anterlered deer (a.k.a. earn-a-buck). The earn-a-buck requirement only aplies to the Deer Reduction Zone bag limit. The Deer Reduction Zone bag limit is in addition to all other bag limits.
